What is the PAA ?The Professional Anglers Association is a body of experienced anglers who have been specially selected and trained to help get you started and to develop your interest and skills. Every PAA coach is an expert in their chosen field, particularly in their area. He or she can give you free advice about the best places to fish, obtaining a licence, the right tackle and bait, bankside safety in fact everything you need to know about starting this rewarding, exciting hobby. Waveney Valley Coach Martin RichesAt the present time I am the only PAA coach in the Waveney Valley area. I use the excellent Weybread fishing complex run by Harleston and Wortwell Angling club as my home base, with its six lakes and the River Waveney around Harleston there is plenty of variety to learn most fishing styles.
Experience I have been a regular angler for 25 years, starting my fishing career on the clear waters of the River Waveney behind the farm my father used to work at, catching the small roach, dace and gudgeon which could be seen swimming on the sand bars. After a couple of years practice on the river I joined the local club and fished all the competitions I could, to try win money for new fishing tackle. I done well as a junior winning all the club trophies, and representing both the club and county fishing teams. Since 1995 I have concentrated my match fishing on the high profile big money competitions such as Barry Hearns Sky TV covered Fish O'Mania and the Embassy Challenge. These competitions attract a large high quality turnout with up to 500 anglers attending some of the competitions. The matches are held on a wide range of the countries top match waters giving me top quality experience of the countries major canal and river systems.
